FIB'er tournaments are designed to be a way for individuals, families and teams to compete against other fishermen in a friendly day of good clean fun. For our Newport & Mission Bay Bass Tournaments, those without boats can rent one from Davey's Locker(Newport) & Dana Landing(Mission). Kayaks, float tubes, Stand Up Paddle Boards, longboards, and even shore fishing are encouraged. Since none of the events have a starting point, one could drive to their desired starting point, catch their fish, put them in a livewell (a large bucket or an ice chest is really all you need. You can choose to change the water every 15 minutes or so, or invest in a portable 12 volt aerator), and then drive your catch to the weigh in.
While there are no boat rentals near Long Beach, we will still allow kayaks, float tubes, Stand Up Paddle Boards, longboards, and even shore fishermen to compete in the Calico Coastal event.
Sign up for each event at the next Club meeting or by emailing us:
