Junior Division

About the Junior Division

The Junior Division has a year-long contest for the heaviest fish caught, weighed, photographed and submitted by a junior. Qualifying species are listed to the right. Please carefully read all of the rules for participation.

This program is funded and supported by generous donations from our local tackle stores, the sport fishing industries as well as donations by our club members. Please contact Floyd Spangler if you wish to donate used fishing tackle and boating supplies. These used items are sold to raise funds for this wonderful program.

Since 2007 "the Friends of Rollo", has provided generous financial support of the Fib'ers junior activities. They have a fantastic program that helps youngsters experience the ocean and fishing in California. We are looking forward to our association with them again this year. We encourage you to support them when possible.

Visit the Friends of Rollo web site.

Hope to see you this year. Good luck to all Juniors!!

We have two scheduled Junior's Amigo trips out of Newport Landing. Please see our CHARTERS page for more details. There will be food (breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, sodas and snacks) available for purchase. If you need tackle, we can arrange to get what you need from the landing.

Sign up with Floyd Spangler at one of our monthly meetings to reserve a spot.

Also note that the more experienced Junior anglers are welcome to fish on any of the regularly scheduled adult charters; however, the cost would be the same as an adult, and they must be accompanied by a responsible adult. You can also include a junior in any of the private boater tournaments.
